Intellectual property

Literary, scientific and artistic works are in Norway protected through provisions in “åndsverkloven. The central in this property is the authors rights of the work. Photograps, painters and musicproducers are examples of authors that the law applies. This is a right that’s applies worldwide, and encure the authors payment possibilities. The payment the authors get, will participate that new work will be created and brought to the community. The author will be a person, but if he wants he can assign rights to others, for instance a publishing house. The law is balanced against communities needs of access copyrighted material. You can read about how the law takes into account to the publics here.

Then I ask, when is a work copyrighted?

If a work should be copyrighted, it has to be caractirised by independed work and effort from the author. The copyright arise as the work is created, and it request no marking or registrating on the product. Allthough the copyrigth, the community are allowed some use of the materials that are produces. If the copy is ment for private use in family or by friends, you are free to use some examples. The author get a percentage as compentation for the job. Ofcourse you have to have a legal copyfoundation.

Is it possible to be sure that the copyright always is abided? In school for example, we as teatchers often give pupils wide tasks that involves gathering information from different sources. The pupils uncritical pick texts, images, music and simmilar from all kinds of media, without thinking the thought that they are "steeling" somebodys work. The adults in school has a big responsibillity bring the knowledge about copyrighting too the children. This in respect to the athors and the law. The information that we give, can make the pupils be more aware also in the sparetime. All use in social media that they are connected to, is a big area for distibution of all kinds of works. Movies, pictures and different, often is posted in medias. Maybe without thinking they are violating the author.

This video tells a bit about what kind of challenges youngers meet for example in using internett in schoolwoork.

Information Privacy

Already from our birth our living leaves traces. Every step we take and every happening in our life are a sign that stands as a mark of our activity. The most individual trace for humans is the fingerprint. It is our privacy and it is special for each of us. It is our mark of who we are. We can both be protected and disclosed through the print.

Privacy

But are we aware of all the other traces we leave everywhere?
When we are using the technology for social connections we are leaving traces whenever we for example send a SMS, post pictures or videos. Using the telephone or the Internett, every click we do makes a difference. Did you know that the picture you lay out on Facebook always will be out there somewhere? Using the Internet for shopping and other assignments, we often are told to leave our date of born and other personal information like our address and family relations. Who can grab this facts? Where can it land?

The European Convention on Human Rights is through several articles, protecting our privacy. Article numer 8 is specialy taking care of our correspondence and public safety. Children are even beeing protected through FNs Children Convention. Here the childrens rights are specially taking care of. Even though we are social humans, we have a need of priavacy. It may be difficult to value, and many do not understand this significance before its to late and the information is spred all over the world. What can we do then? The website Slett Meg may help you. Here you find instructions that help you deleting text or pictures that you dont want shall surf on the WWW.

Our yougers are big users of the technology that the community offer. It`s a part of their life, every day, and even many times in a day. They use it for talking, blogging, reading news, posting pictures and much more. As adults it would be wrong of us refusing them the right to use it. Our job must be prepearing them for the challenges they will meet as users. We must learn them both the positive and the negative attemps in using technology for social connections.

I think it`s important that this knowledge is given as early as possible to the children. We can`t stop the evolution, but we can be a parat shaping it, in some way. Learning our new generation about how to protect themselves and others privacy, would be a good start I think both parents and teachers have a responsability on this area. As adult we have a job to do, and we should do it along with the youngers.

Social medias, can they be used in school?

Social medias are a group of internet based applications which admit creating and exchanging user topics. It opens for interaction between people all over the world, where the user decides what content the media is going to have. By interaction we can think of sharing, rating, tagging or to post comments on pictures, articles or other content and information. How is the situation in school? Does pupils get knowledge and help from the modern technology? Are teachers seeing the possibilities that laies right in front of them? I think we do, but we have to get more knowledge about the therm. Then we can be good users and bring  the use among to the youngers.
The last years Facebook has got attention also from school fronts. Facebook can be an interesting media for teachers and students to conduct information and work.  Most of the students may already be connected to Facebook and have thei own adress. The school can build on the students passion for Facebook and use it to develop the youngers. Facebook has posibility in being used in teaching. Using Facebook teachers and students can send messages and exchange information. Special pages can be set up for one class and their teachers, where tasks can be created and delivered. Forums for discussing topics are popular, and can make interactive communication possible. Quick and easy, questions and answers can be laid out.
The school can advertise itself by connecting to Facebook. Information can be shared and if someone click like, they get all the further information laid out from school. This can be interesting for new and older students, and for the community. Many can keep updating on school information. The school reaches a lot of people by simple sharing. On the page students and teachers can be connected also after finishing at school, updating each other on their privacy and work. Facebook may have lot of opportunities.   As modern teachers we must see this opportunity. The important thing is that we find support in the medias own instructions, and use it as they recomend. Then we follow the wave of evolution, and we follow it as good as wi  can.

Modern communication and learning!

Teachers competence on ICT!

In Norway searching shows that it is not enough using money on computer equipment in school. Todays teachers use ICT in their administration and planning work, but they do not integrate it in their teaching. In spite of Kunnskapsløftet and its words about integrateing ICT in every profession, the Norwegian schools have a long way to go. Teachers education may solve the problem. The competence among teachers and using ICT in the classroom are some important objects that must be emphazised. Today's classroom teachers must be prepared to provide technology-supported learning opportunities for their students.

Todays students are multimedia users. They are both consuments and producers on the computer. In the classroom, teachers must make the education interesting, modern and motivating by taking this technology in their teaching. This will give the students a manifoldly accession of learning strategy and more motivating learning environment. A school that takes ICT serious, hits the students and their interesting for the technology world we live in. If teachers have the competence, students can learn how to present their work digitaly, how to solve a problem in a construating program, they learn how to use social medias interchange information.

The norwegian goverment has a statement that says that the schools must use ICT more active in the teaching. It`s laies as one of the prime abilities in the learning project for norwegian schools. The thought is tha ICT causes changes and new opportunities in the classroom and the teaching. The goverment asks to development project and tests, and think this will bring schools who handle the future students and their needs. The technology has come in our lives, and we must learn to see the use in it.

At last I distribute this video from youtube, as an motivating an inspiring lesson. The video puts the finger of som of my points in this blogpost, and it is an simple but informative object about what future expects from teachers.

Expects of future teachers
